The PLC‒GIT Products technical has two software parts
- Машина или часть установки нуждается в связи с ПЛК.
- Веб-сайт и часть репозитория.
The plant part needs to be running in the real plant, where the necessary IT security settings allow this. In most cases, PLC ports can only be used within a single building. The repository part can run anywhere. In larger environments, this can be split into two systems or Docker containers.Standard environments use the web‑based interface.
PLCGit can be installed on a single machine or distributed across multiple machines.
Complex environments with multiple production buildings and higher network‑security requirements will run the plant parts accessing the real PLCs in each building, while the Git/GitLab part is often hosted in the central company IT department.
Not every installation requires graphical merge tools — backup and restore do not depend on them.
The basic browser‑based configuration is included in the web license models, or these parts can be hosted separately.
There are no extra license costs for the basic backup/restore configuration and handling.
In very large installations, the web part can also be distributed.
One machine may run the GitLab components with user management, while the file‑storage components run on another machine with large drives and a backup scheme.
This does not affect license costs.
The GitLab and file components can run as a cloud service, but this is optional. For cost control and higher security, running GitLab on a machine in the local site or company IT is often preferable.
Price model agents
The agent communicates with the PLC.
The license depends on the PLC series: Siemens S7‑1500, Siemens S7‑300/400 programmed with TIA Portal, Siemens S7‑300/400 programmed with Step7, and Rockwell CompactLogix and ControlLogix.
The price also depends on the number of PLCs an agent handles.
A base license can be combined with extensions for the PLC series and the number of PLCs.
For commonly used configurations, complete license packages are offered.
Price model management console
The management central unit connects to the agents.
It handles the repositories, and the web server provides configuration, checkouts, and diff/merge functionalities.
There is one price for the basic management unit.
Price model diff and merge
Diff and merge functions work independently of the real PLC and management functions.
The price for these features is charged once per management console.
Price model collaboration for creating one PLC program from multiple parts
Collaboration is used for creating a PLC program for an individual PLC from multiple sources. Often, a PLC program is created in parts by multiple working teams, and components may even come from multiple companies. Collecting these parts requires combining them, generating the necessary basic data definitions. During this process, the system may produce hints, warnings, or errors.
